What WE DO

The Four Universal Principles

The rule of law is a durable system of laws, institutions, norms, and community commitment that delivers:

Accountability
The government as well as private actors are accountable under the law.

Just Law
The law is clear, publicized, and stable and is applied evenly. It ensures human rights as well as property, contract, and procedural rights.

Open Government
The processes by which the law is adopted, administered, adjudicated, and enforced are accessible, fair, and efficient.

Accessible and Impartial Justice
Justice is delivered timely by competent, ethical, and independent representatives and neutrals who are accessible, have adequate resources, and reflect the makeup of the communities they serve.

Human Right
Human rights are rights inherent to all human beings, regardless of race, sex, nationality, ethnicity, language, religion, or any other status. Human rights include the right to life and liberty, freedom from slavery and torture, freedom of opinion and expression, the right to work and education, and many more.
Good Governance
Governance refers to all processes of governing, the institutions, processes and practices through which issues of common concern are decided upon and regulated. Good governance adds a normative or evaluative attribute to the process of governing.
Anti-corruption
Grand corruption involves acts committed by individuals at a high level of government or executives in the private sector who have a significant impact on society by distorting policies or the functioning of the state, enabling leaders to benefit at the expense of the public good. Fighting grand corruption is extremely challenging, and progress so far has been very limited. Strengthening community voice and agency in the use of public funds, county development planning prioritization, allocation, utilization and monitoring is crucial in fighting corruption. This entails supporting an enabling policy and legal environment to secure more equitable access to services for the poor and other excluded groups. PTD is in forefront in fighting the menace of corruption.
Advocacy
Advocacy is taking action to support people to say what they want, secure their rights, pursue their interests and obtain the services they need. PTD advocates work in partnership with the people they support and take their issues, promoting social inclusion, equality and social justice. Clarity of purpose!

How we work

Discussion
We organize Focused Group Discussions (FGDs) to discuss pertinent issues raised during different trainins conducted by PTD.
Strategy
Our strategic plan contain long-term strategies on how to achieve all the objectives set.
Implementation
PTD use different strategies to put it's plan into task. We believe our plan is only as valuable as the implementation.
Results
For an organization to achieve best results, it should lay down good plans and hire staffs who are self motivated and competent. This ensures the outcomes are of benefit to the community.
Support
Due to economic challenge faced in the current society, we lobby for support from different actors in the country and the world at large.
