On the Passing of ECM Dr. Sonia Nzilani – Trade, Marketing, Industry, Culture & Tourism, Makueni County
PTD Kenya joins the people of Makueni County, the County Government, and the entire fraternity of non-state actors in mourning the untimely passing of Dr. Sonia Nzilani, the County Executive Committee Member for Trade, Marketing, Industry, Culture & Tourism.
Dr. Nzilani was an exceptionally competent, visionary, and dedicated leader, whose passion for empowering communities and strengthening local economic development was evident in all her engagements. Her leadership inspired confidence, progress, and unity across departments and sectors.
As PTD Kenya, we hold deep gratitude for the support, openness, and collaboration she extended to non-state actors, especially organizations affiliated with the Makueni Civil Society Network (MACSON). Her willingness to engage, listen, and create space for civil society contributions greatly enhanced participatory governance in the county.
In particular, PTD Kenya benefited immensely from her encouragement, accessibility, and commitment to partnership, especially in programs that promoted community empowerment, youth participation, and inclusive development. Dr. Nzilani consistently championed a working relationship between government and civil society that was grounded in mutual respect and a shared vision for a better Makueni.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to:
-
